Trash to Treasure

A few things I had been working before my Mom passed at the end of June, I finally finished them. On both pieces I used Annie Sloan Chalk Paint, Which I purchased at Suite Pieces in Massapequa.
I found both of these pieces on the curb! Another Man's trash is truly another man's treasure! Of course the dog helped find and paint both!
I sanitized the cushion first! I mixed some cream and a white I already had, spray the cushion to get it slightly damp, then paint away! Took three thin coats and after that dried, I taped off the lines and used Paris gray mixed with another gray I had on hand. Then I used clear wax. It almost feels like a vinyl or leather now. Let's see how it holds up!
For the drum table, I lightly sanded first only because the old finish was peeling. Then I used Annie Sloan's graphite on the base, for the sides I layered, a heavy thick coat of Old Ochre, let it dry, put a light wash of one of the grays with a newspaper, then a coat of crackle medium, which I put on thick and thin and even dabbed it on, what the hell! Another coat of Old Ochre again. After it was dried and crackled I used a mix of a dark wax and clear wax with a crumpled cloth to get it in really good in the cracks!
For the top, I gotta admit something, ya see I did not draw the nautical star, my Honey Ray did! Well he lined it out and I painted it so it was a joint effort but all my idea! Then I used the same techniques as I used on the sides, added the nail heads along the edge, I think it gave it a slight industrial feel to it, it's has an old wold charm to it now. And of course the dog was covered in paint drips! He lays right next to me for all my projects! I do kick him out when sanding! His least favorite part!
Let me know what you think!
