A few things I had been working before my Mom passed at the end of June, I finally finished them. On both pieces I used Annie Sloan Chalk Paint, Which I purchased at Suite Pieces in Massapequa.
I found both of these pieces on the curb! Another Man's trash is truly another man's treasure! Of course the dog helped find and paint both!
I sanitized the cushion first! I mixed some cream and a white I already had, spray the cushion to get it slightly damp, then paint away! Took three thin coats and after that dried, I taped off the lines and used Paris gray mixed with another gray I had on hand. Then I used clear wax. It almost feels like a vinyl or leather now. Let's see how it holds up!
For the drum table, I lightly sanded first only because the old finish was peeling. Then I used Annie Sloan's graphite on the base, for the sides I layered, a heavy thick coat of Old Ochre, let it dry, put a light wash of one of the grays with a newspaper, then a coat of crackle medium, which I put on thick and thin and even dabbed it on, what the hell! Another coat of Old Ochre again. After it was dried and crackled I used a mix of a dark wax and clear wax with a crumpled cloth to get it in really good in the cracks!
For the top, I gotta admit something, ya see I did not draw the nautical star, my Honey Ray did! Well he lined it out and I painted it so it was a joint effort but all my idea! Then I used the same techniques as I used on the sides, added the nail heads along the edge, I think it gave it a slight industrial feel to it, it's has an old wold charm to it now. And of course the dog was covered in paint drips! He lays right next to me for all my projects! I do kick him out when sanding! His least favorite part!
Let me know what you think!

So I had every intention of documenting my home improvement journey after my move (from a friends house on the water, I was house sitting for four years, loving life mind you, to living in a a major fixer upper with my boyfriend but...) Yeah life got in the way, all sorts of happenings, major life changes that took every ounce of energy from us. So the house has not been updated and we have been basically living in a construction zone and it has been tough to say the least. But yet another life change has happened and I am hoping this time I can take you all on a journey of fixing up my new home, upstate New York, in the Catskill Mountains!

Yay! I am so excited, My honey and I have plans to make this our new home full time at some point but for now we are weekenders trying to fix up a bank foreclosed house and make it a home again.
Disgusting!
But it won't be easy, although for the most part the house has had a lot of updates, like the electric, plumbing, roof, siding and windows are relatively new. But the interior was disgusting, apparently they were not clean people and there was cat pee and poop every where! Ugghh the smell WTF! Euuwwwwww! That's cat pee and poop all over the floor and that is just one room!

I had to pay a company to come in and remove it and sanitize all the floors, This picture doesn't show the how much or the smell, BE GRATEFUL! It was burning my throat! Ok so your asking yourself why the hell did I buy it then right? Because you can't even buy a brand new car for what I paid for it! So I took the risk and hoping it pays off.

We shall see! Here's a few more before pictures and I will start posting as we continue to work on the house!
Needing curbside appeal!

Camping at home, No heat, No hot water, NO BED!

My helper taking a break!

Did I mention it also has a little guest house? yeah it's even more disgusting!
Till next post folks! :)
